Roos defeat Lions
15 May 12 | In another classic game of footy, Orroroo came from 19 points down at 3 / 4 time to over-run the Lions at Melrose. BMW started strongly and kicked 6-1 (37) to the 4-3 (27) in a free-flowing opening to the game.
15 May 12 | Jamestown born and bred croquet player Simon Hockey scored third in the World Croquet Championships. Adelaide hosted the 13th world event for the first time across six metropolitan venues from April 28 through to May 6 and saw 24 countries represented in the competition.
15 May 12 | Residents of the Gilbert Valley Senior Citizens Homes is enjoying some extra shade thanks to the local Lions Club. With assistance from the Australian Lions Foundation, the Lions Club of Gilbert Valley raised sufficient funds to help the Senior Citizens Homes at Riverton.
15 May 12 | Ben Cameron, Matthew Crawford, Kieren Glenn, Ashby Trott and Daniel Woolford, at a very young age, have taken a big step towards a bright professional future. They go to Gladstone High School and were some of the recipients for the 2012 Defence Technical Scholarship. More than 2000 applications were received from 677 different Australian schools.
15 May 12 | Paul Kretschmer and his family put their bushfire plan to the test last week when a burn-off got out of control and devastated 800 hectares of the Wirrabara Forest. Mr Krestschmer has lived in the region since 1998 and said he had never experienced such a frightening situation.

Lions and Eagles clash
08 May 12 | The beautiful Melrose Oval provided a great venue for the clash of the Lions and Eagles on Saturday. BMW started the game very switched on and led 3-6 to 1-2 at quarter-time.

Footy season kicks off
26 Apr 12 | The Northern Areas Football Season kicked off on the weekend with thrilling results for Crystal Brook, Southern Flinders and Orroroo. From round one, little has changed since last season ended in terms of performance. Crystal Brook was in fine form, with a strong win against BMW. Southern Flinders dominated when they came up against Broughton-Mundoora.

11 Apr 12 | The 2012 Clare Valley Film Festival held at the Blyth Cinema was an outstanding success with 500 people attending the various sessions on Saturday, March 31. The morning sessions included Family Shorts which were enjoyed by the children and Rob George’s Screenwriting Masterclass and was attended by 20 budding students.
