This year’s Jamestown Show is under threat, with the event’s committee being unable to fill their secretary or treasurer roles.
Outgoing show secretary Kaye Bottrall issued a stern warning that the role would have to be filled for the event to be held this year. “Unfortunately we have had no response to either our secretary or treasurer positions that have been advertised,” she said.
“The show cannot continue to grow without a secretary or a group of people to share the role.”
She has always described the event as South Australia’s best one-day show, and said it’s exciting to play a role in the organising the show.
The secretary is responsible for keeping records of committee meetings, attend regional meetings with the president, organise the show, liase with the section convenors and sub-committees and organise the show book, trophies, ribbons and entries.
Mrs Bottrall said being secretary for the last five years had been rewarding. “It’s exciting working with local businesses and members of the community,” she said. “Community groups have raised a lot of money, managing the gate, supplying food and refreshments.”
“Let’s hope we can continue to put on this vibrant community event.”
