The Blyth Leisure Group hosted a Melbourne Cup luncheon in the Blyth Community Hall supper room and were joined by the Snowtown Leisure Group and community members.

The group enjoyed a lovely

luncheon as well as a hat parade to show the many styles avail-able in the district.

Hat winners of the day were Colin Hoklas with his true blue Aussie bottle brush hat, Kim Wilson of England and Winsome Mugge with their lovely hats

perfect for the warm weather.

The group ventured to the Blyth Cinema to watch the

race that stops the nation

and enjoyed the atmosphere on the big screen prior to the

running of the Melbourne Cup.

As they were returning to the hall all were checking their sweep tickets to see who was going to collect any winnings.

The day was concluded with more beautiful food and a surprise birthday cake presented to Blyth’s Leisure Group co-ordinator, Leonie Gill, who tried to

quietly celebrate her 60th birthday.
