Lions called to action to relieve pressure on older members

13 Nov, 2009 01:35 PM

Lions District Governor, John McIntosh, from the Barossa Club challenged the Gilbert Valley Club members, during his recent visit.

He said that the service of Lion Club members was needed more than ever, both on the local front and on the international scene.

He challenged them to encourage successful service minded professional and business leaders in the communities to join up.

He said that those nearing retirement age were often good targets, as they usually had family commitments behind them, and were in a position to contribute back to society, much of the expertise, they had gained through life.

This, he said would relieve the pressure on older club members, who were struggling to maintain the workload needed to keep their clubs vibrant. The money raised by service clubs is still urgently needed to fund great worldwide projects such as Save Sight and the Lions International Foundation which jumps into action as soon as disasters occur.
