Taking action against drugs

The Broughton Mundoora Football Club, which isa Level 1 Good Sports Club, held a Drug Action Week education session titled Alcohol and Other Drugs on Tuesday, 23 June.

This event was arranged in partnership with the Port Broughton District Hospital and Health Services Inc and was funded and supported by Drug and Alcohol Services SA, SA Government, SA Health and SA Network of Drug and Alcohol Services.

There were 52 youths who attended the evening which was open to all 12-18 year olds.

The night commenced with football and netball training after school, followed by tea and guest speakers.

The guest speakers were Andrew Montesi, a

television sports reporter who spoke on alcohol and drugs in sport, Kerelos Hendy, a medical

student who spoke on alcohol and it’s effect

on health and Talei Bentley and Mel Ellis

from the Drug Investigation Branch, in

Adelaide.

The pair spoke on illicit drugs. It was a highly informative evening with plenty of interaction from the youth.
