The New Year has arrived and the talk around town is the approaching Port Pirie Pura Light Start State Masters Games that will be held from April 9 to 18.
It is now time for the local sporting
community to get behind this major event and register for a week of sport and fun with 34 sports being offered.
To start the week’s activities will be the Friday Night Sports Dinner that will be held at the Port Football and Community Sporting Club.
Special guests are Games Ambassador Mark Davis and horse racing identity, Johnny Letts. Tickets are limited so book now to avoid missing a great night.
Saturday night will be the opening ceremony which is proudly sponsored by Pura Light Start and Nyrstar Port Pirie. It will greet participants in the games.
The broader community is invited to join the sportsmen and women and enjoy this
sensational night’s entertainment and show the visitors that Port Pirie is the City of Friendly People.
This year there is a change of venue – moving from Memorial Park to Flinders View Park
overlooking the Pirie River with the beautiful Flinders Ran-ges as a backdrop.
The popular Cornesy’s All Star Rock Band will make sure everyone can kick up their heels.
Athletes will be welcomed and the oath will be read, followed by the opportunity to meet with old friends and make new ones.
The week of sport will end with the Closing Ceremony Dinner in the Northern Festival Centre Ballroom.
The band Side Show will set the mood for a party on the dance floor for all the
competitors and visitors.
It will then be Auld Lang Syne till we meet again.
