As the new swimming season is just beginning, the Booleroo Centre Amateur Swimming Club is hoping for another successful year.
The 2008/09 season,
which concluded in March this year, was extremely successful for the club, as the Booleroo Centre swimmers won all
four of the trophies that were on offer.
These were the Scratch Trophy, the Handicap Trophy, the Teams Trophy (Relays) and the Golden North Perpetual Trophy for the most successful overall team in the competition - a sensational effort!
The Booleroo Centre Club
competes in the Upper North Interclub Time Trials with teams from Crystal Brook, Orroroo, Gladstone and Jamestown.
Booleroo Centre’s new committee for the 2009/2010 season comprises of president Jenny Deer, secretary/treasurer Jenny Stringer, coaches Steven Roocke, Tracey Smith and Marie Lock, team selectors for Friday night meets, Karen Blesing and Toni Bastian.
The club welcomed the new season and some new swimmers to a sausage sizzle and come and try night, where everyone was able to find out what swimming clubs are all about and “have a go” with
training.
Earlier this year the club was successful in acquiring a volunteers’ grant, which has been used to purchase club shirts
for swimmers and volunteers to use.
The first Friday night meet of the new season was held at Jamestown on December 4.
