The Mid North U14 Cricket team recently played in the BankSA Under 14 Country Cup, held in Adelaide.

The Carnival was played in the first week of January and involved 10 country teams, and some games were played on the grounds of district clubs.

The Mid North team came eighth, winning one game over York Peninsula, and losing three at the hands of South East, Fleurieu South and Eyre Peninsula.

The games they lost were due to the batsmen not being able to bat out their overs and make a

reasonable score.

The bowlers were able to keep the teams to a reasonable score in a good bowling effort.

Matt Kuerschner performed well, taking 10 wickets for the week and finishing equal third in the bowling aggregate.

Kuerschner took 4/35 and 4/32 in two separate games, putting in a solid effort overall. This enabled him to be named in the team of the carnival.

Kuerschner was also named the Mid North player of the carnival and received the Woodville District Cricket Club trophy.

Noah Ramsey came equal second in the wicket-keeping trophy.

The team from the South East won the carnival by just one run from Fleurieu North.
