A Grade
BMW 23-12 (150) d Broughton-Mundoora 13-7 (85)
Broughton-Mundoora started the game okay and had two goals on the board quickly and looked to be on song.
When Ben O’Donohue had to leave the field early in the first term with a dodgy hamstring, the Lions started to gain control.
At quarter time it was four goals apiece.
The second term was all BMW as it slammed on nine goals to two to set up a match winning seven goal lead at half time. The Lions continued to control the game during the second half and ran out easy 65 point winners. The Lions showed they are a genuine flag contender with an excellent display of team footy.
Best was Geordie McCallum in the ruck, Nick McCallum on the half backline, Cameron McCallum with eight goals from full forward provided an excellent target, Dylan McCallum and Kendrick McCallum in the centre.
Todd Carey came off the bench and kicked four goals. Zac Murphy and Andrew Milne each kicked three goals and were both excellent players and Lachie McCallum kicked two goals from centre half forward. Best for the Eagles was forward Mark Horner with five goals, Daniel Harris, Lee O’Donohue in the centre, rover Aaron Barclay, and onballer Ashley Lockwood. Justin Tiller and Matt Gale each kicked three goals.
The Eagles’ last month of football has been fairly ordinary and would be disappointed to bomb out in the first final after the good start to the season.
