Horner’s 10-goal extravaganza

Broughton-Mundoora returned to the winner’s list with a comfortable 55-point win over the Tigers in a match played at Mundoora.

The Eagles jumped out of the blocks well and led by eight goals at halftime to set up the victory.

Once again, Southern Flinders fought out the game well and played a much better second half.

Best for the Eagles and best on ground was Mark Horner, with a stunning 10-goal performance.

Matt Gale was also outstanding up forward, kicking seven goals.

Justin Tiller, Ashley Lockwood and Ben O’Donohue were other excellent players.

Ben and Lee O’Donohue each kicked two goals.

Best for the Tigers was once again Matt Woolford, who is in outstanding form.

Ben Brown, wingman Jeremy Edson, John McKenna (four goals) and defender Nathan Cunningham were others to make the list.

Brett Ballantyne kicked four goals and Matt Woolford two.

Orroroo 22-18 (150) d Jamestown-Peterborough

Orroroo powered on to another convincing win on the weekend after a slightly shaky first quarter.

The Magpies jumped out of the blocks and led by three goals at quarter time before the Roos fought back to lead by four points at halftime.

The reigning premier then produced its best football in the second half to run out winners by 66 points.

Best for Orroroo was a sensational performance from youngster Jon Bowman, who kicked eight goals.

Jon Byerlee (three goals) turned the game when he was moved into the centre.

Luke Ellery was very good in ruck, and Liam and Brodie O’Dea worked hard all day.

Damien Ellery, Keith Slade, Brodie O’Dea, Luke Ellery and Casey Hooper each kicked two goals.

Best for the Magpies was Nick Davies, who did an excellent job on Will Bennett.

John Arnold (three goals) and Greg Farr (four goals) battled hard and Shane Henness and Nick McInerney flashed in and out with some class acts.

Crystal Brook 11-11 (77) d BMW 6-10 (46)

Crystal Brook continued on its unbeaten form with a solid 31-point win over BMW.

The Lions battled hard all day and would have a sense of bittersweet after recording a ‘honorable’ loss.

Best for the Roosters was o-baller Waylon Neilson, who has been very consistent all season.

Youngster Joseph Slattery once again performed well.

Chris Slattery, Shane Arbon and Keagan Brinkley (four goals) were others to play well.

Josh Gale kicked two goals.

Best for the Lions was defender Dustin Berryman, Dion Strike, wingman Casey McCallum, Braden Battersby and Caleb Girdham. Nick McCallum kicked two goals.
