Lions take home the points in shock win

Reigning premier Orroroo suffered a shock 44 point loss to BMW in the match played at Melrose.

BMW had lost its previous eight games but turned its form around with an excellent display of team footy.

The Lions burst out of the blocks with seven goals to two in the first term to set up the victory.

The Roos fought back to reduce the margin to 14 points at three quarter time before BMW powered on to win in the final term.

Best for BMW was the McCallums who incredibly dominated the list for the Lions. The combination of brothers and cousins make up one third of the BMW outfit.

Best was Casey, ahead of Kendrick, Dylan, Cameron, Lachie and Nick. Dustin Berryman also made the list.

Cameron McCallum kicked six goals and Damien Smith kicked four. Best for Orroroo was classy youngster Liam O’Dea who has performed excellently in recent weeks.

Will Bennett (three goals) had a good return to form. Damien Ellery, Tim Byerlee and Brodie O’Dea all made the list. Jon Byerlee and Justin Duffy each kicked two goals.

Crystal Brook 17-10 (112) d Broughton-Mundoora 15-7 (97)

Crystal Brook was threatened seriously for the first time this season when Eagles opened up with a six goal to two first term.

The Roosters fought back to lead by eight points at half time. The second half was an even affair and the Brook eventually got home by 15 points.

Best for the Roosters was Jack Cousins, David Jefferies, Robert Price, Matt Jackman and Luke Kapitola.

Youngster Keagan Brinkley kicked six goals and at the other extreme veteran Joel Head kicked five goals.

Joel Millard and Jamie Kemp chipped in with two goals each.

Best for the Eagles was Nick Edwards, Aaron Barclay, Josh McCallum, Chris Button and Nick Hewett. Matt Gale kicked five goals, Mark Horner three and Ben and Lee O’Donohue two goals each.

Southern Flinders 24-12 (156) d Jamestown-Peterborough 12-7 (79)

Southern Flinders showed it is the form side of the competition with a powerful 77 point demolition of the Magpies.

The Tigers have now given itself a real shot at the top two position on the ladder after a very shaky start to the season.

Best for the Tigers was speedy wingman Cody Turner (three goals,) Jeremy Edson on the other wing, Rhys Stanbridge (seven goals,) Michael Gaunt and Brett Ballantyne (two goals.)

John McKenna kicked three goals, Cameron Edson, Scott Mazzone and Scott Brand kicked two goals each.

Best for the Pies was centreman Nick Davis, defender Brad Breeding, Hamish Tonkin, Greg Farr and Paul Hunter.

Hamish Tonkin, John Arnold, Shane Henness and Ben Home each kicked two goals.
