Tigers bounce back into final

Preliminary Final

A grade

Southern Flinders 9-12 (66) d BMW 3-11 (29)

Southern Flinders have advanced to the grand final with a hard fought 37 point win over BMW in the game played at Orroroo.

In near perfect conditions the game was a low scoring affair.

Both sides struggled to find a dominant forward.

BMW led by four points at quarter time before the Tigers fought back to lead by four points at half time.

After half time BMW’s scoring dried up and failed to kick a goal.

However, the Tigers kicked 5-7 to run away convincing winners.

This brings to an end the fairytale run of the Lions.

Lions up to a month ago sat on the bottom of the premiership ladder.

Best for Southern Flinders was hard working Mail Medallist Matt Woolford who played his typical classy game. Scott Brand with three goals, speedy Cody Turner, Chunky Zander, Rhys Millington and Scott Muzzone were all key contributors to the win.

Best for BMW were the McCallums (not for the first time this season).

Nicholas got the nod as best and has had an excellent year in his first season up from colts.

Kendrick McCallum, Casey McCallum, Geordie McCallum and Dylan McCallum were all superb with their attack on the ball. Damien Smith completed the list.

B grade

BMW 16-10 (106) d Crystal Brook 8-5 (53)

BMW had an emphatic 53 point win over a disappointing Crystal Brook side.

The young Lions were too quick and too clean for the Roosters and were always in control of the game.

Best for BMW were Matt Foulis with three goals, Eamon Fetherstonhaugh, Dessy Taylor with three goals, JP Carey, Brad Elson with three goals and William Heaslip.

Best for Crystal Brook were Marc Cliff, Joel Millard, Jordan Wilton, Sam Heinjus, Dan Nicholson and Donald Kahn.

Sam Heinjus, Nathan Lambert and Jordan Wilton each kicked two goals.

Senior colts

BMW 12-9 (81) d Southern Flinders 1-6 (12)

BMW completely outplayed the Tigers in the senior colts in a one sided game.

The Lions had numerous good players with Jed Walter getting named best ahead of Kieran Borgas, Craig Rainsford, Bradley Struck, Jaren Murphy and Tom George.

Karl Button and Craig Rainsford kicked three goals each.

Best for the Tigers was Nathan Elmer, Sam Kotz, Koby Millington, Russell Sisan, Joel Palmer and Mathew Palmer.

Junior colts

Orroroo 11-11 (77) d Crystal Brook 5-6 (36)

Orroroo had a solid 41 point win over the Roosters in a high standard game of junior colts footy.

Best for the Roos were Andrew Catford (two goals), Billie Tapscott (three goals), Tom Reid, Declan Duffy, Bruce Slaven and Brendon Barton.

Best for the Roosters were Shaun Perkins, Campbell Combe, Conner Johnston (three goals), Kaleb Head, Matt Perkins and Noah Ramsey.
