The lead changed a number times throughout the day and it appeared like the Magpies would get over the line when it led by eight points deep into the last quarter.

Orroroo stepped up when it really counted to dominate the final stages of the game and snatch a two-point win. Best for the Roos was Nathan “Cracker/Earl” Nutt who had as many possessions as he has nicknames.

Liam O’Dea controlled his position and Brodie O’Dea worked hard.

Justin Duffy kicked five goals to be the dominant forward on the ground and was largely responsible for Orroroo getting over the line.

Best for the Magpies was youngster Hamish Tonkin (three goals) who played his best game for the season. Greg Farr had numerous possessions and Scott Mescke dominated the ruck. Zac Noonan and Ashley McKay also made the list.

Crystal Brook 9-11 (65) d

BMW 4-10 (34)

Undefeated Crystal Brook was forced to work hard to get the points against bottom of the table BMW.

In a game that was dominated by defence, goals were extremely hard to score. The bottom line was the Roosters did enough and Lions can walk away with an ‘honorable’ defeat.

Steve Merkel kicked three goals as did Cameron Arbon. Best for BMW was Dustin Berryman, Lachie McCallum, Kendrick McCallum, Simon George and Michael Bury.
