Jamestown/Peterborough 12-9 (81) d BMW 7-13 (55)
Jamestown-Peterborough scored its first win of the season with a hard fought 26 points win over BMW in the match played at Wilmington.
The Magpies had a narrow lead most of the day and only led by three points at three quarter time.
The Magpies finished full of run in the final term and kicked four goals without reply.
Best for the Magpies in a very good team effort was Chris Stacey (three goals), Scott Mesecke continued his excellent form in ruck, Ash McKay, David Boulton and Craig Ottoway.
Shane Henness, Darren Woolford, Greg Farr and Bernie Kelly each kicked two goals.
Best for BMW was on baller Caleb Girdham, forward Lachie McCallum and wingman Cameron McCallum. Dylan McCallum and Michael Bury were others to make the list.
Orroroo 16-17 (113) d Broughton-Mundoora 15-6 (96)
In a rematch of last year’s grand final Orroroo once again ran out victors. The Eagles got off to a good start and led by 14 points at the first break.
Orroroo fought back to lead by 10 points at half time.
The Roos set up the win with a magnificent third term and led by 32 points at the final change of ends before eventually running out winners by 17 points.
Best for the Roos was captain Will Bennett (three goals) who has started the season in sensational form.
Matt Dignan continued to play great footy, Luke Ellery (four goals), Brodie O’Dea and Jon Byerlee. Kirwin Moore kicked four goals.
For the Eagles best was youngster Josh McCallum, recruit Brad Mercer (five goals), defender Avan Ireland, Mark Horner (three goals) and Justin Tiller. Matt Gale kicked three goals.
Crystal Brook 23-17 (155) d Southern Flinders 9-5 (59)
Crystal Brook handed out a good old fashioned thumping to Southern Flinders on the weekend. The Roosters stormed out of the blocks with a brilliant eight goals to zip first term.
They continued on during the second term and led by 13 goals to one at half time.
To the Tigers credit they had a much better second half and kicked eight goals to the Roosters 10.
Crystal Brook have got an excellent side this year and it spread the work load very well with 14 goal kickers.
Best for the Brook was Matt Jackman, Waylon Neilson, wingman Matt Gale, on baller Shane Arbon and forward James Wardle.
Vetern Steven Merkel kicked five goals, Josh Gale kicked three and Luke Kapitola, Keagan Brinkley and Shane Arbon two goals each.
Best for the Tigers was the hard working Matt Woolford, defender Nathan Cunningham, Ben Brown, Brett Ballantyne (two goals) and ruckman Quentin Janz. Rhys Stanbridge and Tai Martin-Page kicked two goals each.
