Flinders News girls cricket day takes off

Girls from the Clare Valley, Jamestown and Port Pirie joined together for the first Mid North Strikers Girls Cricket League in Jamestown.

Stanley, Port Pirie, Jamestown and Rocky River Cricket Associations were all represented in what was a first.

The first day of the Strikers League was known as the Flinders News Carnival day, with the Mid North Zone establishing a partnership with local Fairfax news papers the Flinders News, Port Pirie Recorder and the Northern Argus.

The Mid North Strikers Girls League caters for girls from Upper Primary to Secondary School, with matches operating under the new Cricket Australia Junior Formats.

The concept of the formats is to ensure that players are involved in as much of the play as possible, with a really strong focus on developing skills through having fun and enjoying the game.
