Crystal Brook 2017 Junior Round Robin Doubles Tournament

On Sunday 5th March the Crystal Brook Tennis Club held its annual Junior Round Robin Doubles Tournament.  With nearly 60 children from various towns around our region including Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Copper Coast, Yorke Peninsula, Bute, Port Broughton, Gulnare and Crystal Brook areas participating, the tournament was an excellent opportunity for children to play with and against players from other tennis associations.

It was great to see so many kids enjoying the day, there were winners and losers, but most importantly the tennis, friendships and the sportsmanship displayed was a credit to all the players.

Some great tennis was played, and it was fantastic to see so many entries, especially in the 12 years & under category.    The tournament was played as a round robin doubles format, with the top 4 teams progressing to the finals. Many of the matches were highly contested affairs, with a very high standard of tennisplayed during the day. From a strong field of competitors the eventual winners were deserving of their wins.

Final results were:

12 years & under– Charlie Dickeson & Charlie Millard (from Port Pirie & Georgetown) defeated Angus Cock & Jack Harris (from Bute & Kadina).

14 years & under – Jack Wulf and Mitch Cunningham (from Port Germein & Port Pirie) defeated Max Crouch & Will Clarke (from Crystal Brook).

16 years & under – Eric Metcalf & Ryan Allan (from Kadina) defeated James Treasure & Ben Treasure (from Georgetown)

The club would like to acknowledge the children and their parents who have participated in and supported the tournament over a number of years.  It is wonderful to have children participating from across the region.  We look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Once again the tournament was sponsored by Pipeline Services & Solutions and Roadside Services & Solutions. The club would like to thank them and acknowledge their generosity and support for our club and junior tennis.
