Young would-be politicians are being encouraged to apply for YMCA SA Junior Parliament. The session will run for children aged from 12 to 15 years old in the October school holidays.
It will provide the opportunity to learn about parliament, meet new friends and develop leadership skills. Stuart Liberal MP Dan van Holst Pellekaan said the apolitical program would cover democracy, parliament, team building, public speaking and leadership.
“Junior Parliament gives young people the opportunity to have their say on issues they care about,” he said. “It would be wonderful to have participants from the electorate of Stuart take part.”
The program involves a three-day/two-night camp and is open to anyone in South Australia. It will be held from October 9 to 11 at Rostrevor College and Parliament House in Adelaide. There is a participation fee of $220 which covers meals, accommodation and transport while on camp. Application forms are available at https://form.jotform.co/72151854527862
