Redhill Country Women's Association branch celebrates 80th birthday

The Redhill Country Women’s Association branch celebrated its 80th birthday party.

About 40 guests joined the celebrations at Redhill Football Club with Port Pirie Regional mayor John Rohde and deputy state president of the South Australian CWA Janet Shane. The most important guests were branch members including Jess Watkins, Sybil McCulloch and Lorraine Schmidt who each received 20-year awards.

A birthday cake for the branch was presented by Di Clements and cut by Gwen Sims. Stories about past projects were shared while respect was paid to members who had passed on after diligently serving. Mr Rohde said in his monthly mayoral report that the occasion reminded him of when he, as a young boy, attended CWA meetings with his mother in their local area.

A display of arts and crafts were displayed in anticipation of the forthcoming Show Day on October 10.

The branch thanked all who helped to prepare for the celebrations.
