Young Laura guns claim fours title

Laura Bowling Club’s team of young guns proved too strong for other clubs during the North Western Bowling Association’s association fours competition.

The team, consisting of Ben Hopgood, Steven Haynes-Nayda, Todd Brand and Jake Prior, was in stunning form at the competition held in Jamestown on Monday.

They were presented with their shield by The Flinders News’ editor, Dylan Smith. The Flinders News is one of the sponsors of the competition.

Early in the day’s play, the team scored an eight against Port Pirie. In the final, they came up against Orroroo, consisting of Malcolm Hardy, Tony McKay, Ken McKay and Col Parkyn, and won 17-11.

Association pairs has already been played and was won by Jamestown’s Lachie Bowman and Tony Bray.

Champion of Champion pairs was won by Peterborough’s Joe Martin and Don Burnell.

Champion of Champion singles is being played at Laura this Sunday.
