UPGRADES to the Horrocks Highway will be funded under the state government’s newly established Royalties to Regions scheme.
There is about $2.5 million in upgrades planned in 2018-19, including 8.3 kilometres of undulation works between the Wasleys turnoff and Roseworthy, rehabilitation works near Collinsfield Road, Angle Grove Road and Stone Cutter Road, between Bungaree and Yacka.
Transport Minister Stephan Knoll said the regional roads and infrastructure fund was established through the Royalties for Regions program.
“This will see 30 per cent of mining royalties quarantined to invest in our regional road network, and other infrastructure,” he said.
“The problems and safety concerns with around the condition of the Horrocks Highway have been well reported for some time.
“That’s why the Marshall Government is delivering around $2.5 million of upgrades to sections of the Horrocks Highway in 2018-19.
“This upgrade will address some areas of the highway that are in particular need of maintenance and being upgrade.
“Fixing the Horrocks Highway is a long term project, this money is a good first step in addressing this difficult road.”
