Honours for show stalwarts

DECADES of service to the Crystal Brook Show was honoured as three volunteers were made life members of the North Western Agricultural Society.

At the official opening of the 141st show, event-goers heard of the extensive service of Julie Price, Ben Mumford and Anne Clothier.

The three have all served as president and have worked tirelessly across many sections of the show, contributing to the event’s continued success.

ABC Radio’s Peter Goers opened the event with Megan McLoughlin from Herd of Hope. “You see in a country show the community at its best. Not only all the produce, the things that community is responsible for but the people,” Mr Goers said.

“It’s the people that make a community and you have a very strong community here.”

He told the gathering of his visit to open the show almost 10 years earlier where he also received a Crystal Brook Football Club windcheater which he  later took to Antarctica.

“It’s nearly as cold today,” he joked.
