Roosters eye back-to-back premierships

CRYSTAL Brook enters the 2018 Northern Areas Football Association A Grade grand final as red-hot favourites after an almost faultless season.

Joining them in the battle, and returning to grand final football, is Orroroo.

Throughout the season, the Roosters have proven too strong for the Roos and on most occasions had convincing wins.

The finals series was no different and the Rooster faithful were treated to a 59-point belting as the red-and-whites won through to the premiership decider at the qualifying final.

While the Roos go in Saturday’s game as underdogs, there’s no underestimating the team boasting several Mail Medallists in its line-up.

Orroroo’s player list is peppered with quiet achievers who could be considered some of the best players in the association.

The trick will be working in unison across the field to get the final prize.

The Roos haven’t played in a grand final since 2013 and last had its name etched on the premiership shield in 2007 – they will be determined to see the shield return to Roo Park after almost 10 years.

Defeating Crystal Brook is no easy feat. Boasting two strong forward stars in Jason Eagle and Daniel Hill, first and fourth leading goal kickers in the association, the Brookies have the ability to add considerably to the scoreboard when needed.

Orroroo’s Denis Redden is equally as impressive in front of the goals.

The Brookies’ brilliance extends well beyond the forward line, with Campbell Combe, who just bagged his third consecutive Mail Medal, and fellow medal winner Luke Kapitola proving dominant in the mid field.

There will be plenty of action to keep the crowd entertained with the likes of Orroroo guns Brodie O'Dea, Damian Ellery and Darren Hughes.
