It’s grand final week in Northern Areas and the excitement is building for what is set to be a cracking day for netball at Jamestown.
A GRADE @ 3:00pm – Orroroo v Southern Flinders
Orroroo have dominated the A Grade for the past three seasons so they will go in as favourites and have won all four matches during the home and away season with the closest margin by two goals in Round 1. So in what has been a very interesting A grade competition with Southern Flinders coming from fourth position after the minor round and winning in a see-sawing match last week by two goals against Broughton Mundoora – they are in fine form coming into the Grand Final match this week. If the Henderson girls are have their goal shooting eye, there will be no stopping them and Southern Flinders will have nothing to lose to throw everything they have against the highly regarded Orroroo team which has a great blend of youth and experience. This game is going to be an absolute belter and if it doesn't go into over time I will be very surprised. My tip: Orroroo by one.
B GRADE @ 12:00pm – BMW v Jamestown Peterborough
BMW have been the form side in B Grade this year only losing one match during the season against Orroroo in Round 15. But what a great effort for Jamestown Peterborough to come from fourth position after the minor rounds to be playing today at their home courts. BMW have won all four matches played throughout the season and should dominate this match. Jamestown Peterborough played a terrific match last week to win in a nailer biter against Orroroo. As we all know anything could happen on Grand Final Day but I'm still tipping BMW by five goals.
C GRADE @ 1:30pm – Broughton Mundoora v BMW
Broughton Mundoora have been the dominate team in C Grade this year and will obviously go into this match as favourites. BMW is the only team that have beaten Broughton Mundoora this season and as we know with finals and especially Grand Final – anything this can happen.
BMW had a comfortable win last week against Jamestown Peterborough in the Preliminary final and deserve to be here on Saturday. BMW will go into this match as the underdogs but with a full team I think Broughton Mundoora should take the flag. I'm still tipping the Eagles by 8 goals.
D GRADE @ 3:00pm – BMW v Southern Flinders
BMW have been a stand out in D Grade this season with only 1 loss (against Orroroo) and Southern Flinders with 5 losses. Two weeks ago in the Qualifying Final BMW won comfortably 42 to 34 against Southern Flinders and I envisage this will be a similar score going by other matches during the season. Match ups in this match in the circle is going to be interesting to watch with many talented players giving 110 percent. But as we know Grand finals can have their upsets and close matches and this could happen here. My tip: BMW by 10 goals.
E GRADE @ 12:00pm – Crystal Brook v Jamestown Peterborough
I've said it every week of the finals, that the E Grade is the closest competition in the Association and while they may not produce the same flair and pace as the Associations top grades, this game will be well worth your attention. Results have been close between these two teams this season with Jamestown taking the points in round 15 by 18 goals which was a massive upset as Crystal Brook had been cruising through the season beforehand. This game is going to be an absolute belter and if it doesn't go into over time I will be very surprised. My tip: Jamestown Peterborough by 2 in an upset.
F GRADE @ 1:30pm – Broughton Mundoora v Crystal Brook
This grade has been very close all season with wins and losses to all teams throughout the season. Last time these two teams met Broughton Mundoora defeated Crystal Brook by only 2 goals and I would not be surprised if this match has a similar result – but which side. Finals can completely change the ball game with nerves and pressure and that last chance at glory can weigh heavily on players shoulders. Bad luck to Southern Flinders who finished 1st after minor rounds and went out in straight sets – finals can be tough!! This match is way too close to call – so I am tossing a coin for this match!
G GRADE @ 10:30am – Jamestown Peterborough v Southern Flinders
What a game this will be! Only a drawn match was the difference at the end of minor round separated these 2 teams so there will be a very nervous first quarter to see how these teams fair with neutral umpires. The G Grade boasts the finest junior netballers in the association and if you turn up at 10:30 Saturday, that is just what you will see. The Magpies team were minor Premiers but the Tigers will not give up a hurry and will fight right to the end of this match. The Magpies by 2 goals but could be in extra time!
H GRADE @ 9:30am – Jamestown Peterborough v BMW
Jamestown Peterborough went straight through to the grand final after beating BMW by only three goals in the qualifying final. The contests between these two teams have been close all season with Jamestown Peterborough taking the wins more often than not. BMW played some blistering netball in the preliminary final and if any of the Jamestown Peterborough girls were watching they have good reason to be nervous. This match will really test all players and we will see which players will stand up on big occasions and which players will adjust to the pressure. My tip: Jamestown Peterborough by 2.
I GRADE @ 10:30am Crystal Brook v BMW
Crystal Brook and BMW have been the two dominate teams in I Grade this season. BMW won rather convincingly last week against Orroroo so hopefully they will not get ahead of themselves for this Grand Final match. These two teams have some great young talent which some of them will be stars in the future for their club and Association and I love watching these young players develop over the past 6 months. The young lions will throw everything at the Crystal Brook girls however I feel that the Crystal Brook just have too much height and strength all over the court for the lions to contend with. My tip: Crystal Brook by 10 goals.
J GRADE @ 9:30am – Crystal Brook v Jamestown Peterborough
Crystal Brook have gone through the season with some very good stats – 15 wins and 1 draw – in this grade and I can’t see that changing this Saturday. Jamestown Peterborough put in a big effort to get over Broughton Mundoora team in the Preliminary final last week but it will be tough for them to back up with the form and strong Roosters. My tip: Crystal Brook by 12 goals.
Good luck to all teams playing this Saturday, see you in the shed at Jamestown!
