Laura backed up their strong performance from last week with a convincing win over Crystal Brook while Redhill proved too strong for Georgetown.

Laura v Crystal Brook

Laura won the toss and elected to bat but got off to a shaky start with both openers dismissed early in the innings.

Scott Brand was the first wicket to fall, bowled by Jake Clements for 14.

Rick Willis was next to go, caught off the bowling of Leo Coates for 9 with the score at 2/26.

Andrew Fleming and Michael Gaunt steadied the innings, taking the total to 61 before Fleming was dismissed by Nick Wilson for 10.

Sam Zanker joined Gaunt at the crease and they dominated the rest of the innings, putting on 134 runs for the fourth wicket.

Gaunt lost his wicket at the end of the innings, caught Steve Merkel, bowled Sam Merkel for 74.

Sam Zanker finished with 49 not out and Dale Tenney with 3 not out.

At the end of their overs, Laura had amassed a commanding score of 4/201.

Crystal Brook had four single-wicket takers – Nick Wilson (1/16/5), Sam Merkel (1/32/4), Leo Coates (1/34/10) and Jake Clements (1/52/9).

Crystal Brook’s run chase was dogged by a steady procession of wickets and they were unable to build partnerships.

Steve Merkel batted well to finish with 48 and P Hombsch chipped in with a handy 17 but the other nine batsmen were only able to contribute 18 runs between them.

Crystal Brook fell well short of Laura’s total as they slumped to be all out for 90.

Scott Brand was the best of the bowlers for Laura, taking 3/25/8 while Dale Tenney claimed 2/10/3.

There were five single-wicket takers – Sam Zanker, Rick Willis, Ben Wallis, C Flavel and Nick Palmer.

Redhill v Georgetown

Georgetown batted first in their clash against Redhill, with Shane Ballantyne and Cody Robson opening the batting as usual.

Robson was dismissed cheaply, caught behind off the bowling of Louis Cummins for 3 with the score at 1/12.

Matt Fejo made a quickfire 13 before he became Cummins’ second victim.

Stephen Hollow joined Ballantyne at the crease and the pair put on 42 runs for the fourth wicket before Hollow was caught behind off the bowling of Jack Gaffney for 8.

Riley Davenport (14) and Jayden Burgess (13) helped the total along to 8/131 but the last 2 wickets fell with the addition of only one more run. Georgetown were all out for 132.

Louis Cummins bowled well to take 3/53/12 while Sam Rowland cleaned up the tail to finish with 3/3/1.3.

Nick Hayes took 2/6/3 while Jack Gaffney and Jack Hayes claimed one wicket apiece.

Dan Hayes and Ben Pilkington set about chasing down Georgetown’s total and they were able to compile the first 30 runs without loss.

But then 3 wickets fell in quick succession.

Hayes was the first to go, caught off the bowling of Stephen Hollow for 12.

Will Smart then took a good catch on the boundary to remove Cam Kerr for 7 and Ben Pilkington was bowled by Matt Fejo for 13 with the score at 3/39.

But from here, Redhill took control of the game as Louis Cummins and Nick Hayes put on 63 runs for the fourth wicket.

The partnership was finally broken when Cummins was bowled by Riley Davenport for 35 with the score at 4/102.

Dylan Hansen joined Hayes at the crease and the pair secured the win for Redhill.

Hayes finished with 46 not out and Hansen made 8 not out.

Best of the bowlers was Stephen Hollow with 2/24/8.

Riley Davenport took 1/11/3 while Matt Fejo finished with 1/31/7.
