The Laura Bowling Club will have a new roof installed after they received $5,000 of funding.

The funding came through the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program which offers grants between $2,500 and $20,000 for small, capital projects.

President of the club Jake Prior says that the money will be put towards a new roof and air conditioner.

“The old roof has been up since the club house was built and it is getting a few leaks. We will be hoping to get the new roof on in the next six months, definitely before the next bowls season”, Jake said.

The club are very grateful and say receiving it was perfect timing.

“We thought it was perfect. We have been asking for the grant for a couple of years now and when we found out last Saturday when it was raining and leaking.”

Rowan Ramsey was pleased at what the funding will provide for the club.

“I am very pleased we have made these Federal Government funds available through the Stronger  Communities Program to help regional communities.”
