Taking on an international level of competition from such a young age has seen Bangor local, Connor Hogan nominated for South Australia’s Worldwide sports award.
The 19 year old who competes in the European based moto-trial sport was nominated for the award for his lasting dedication that has seen him travel all around the world, but also the large success he has had whilst doing so.
Connor’s nomination read that his sport involves a huge commitment and personal drive as there is no one else in the state riding at the same level as him to push him to train and practice.
Connor admits his determination as he wants to be the best in Australia, placing just second at the last Australian Championships.
“I feel at home when I am riding my bike and also want to show other Australians that we can compete at an international level despite the distance and the fact that the sport is very much European based.”
Competing at a state level at just the age of four, Connor has many achievements. The highlight being the gold medal he won at the Trials des Nations in Spain in 2017.
In 2019, he will be riding in all the world championships on top of that a six day Scottish trial, the Australian championships and he also hopes to make the Trials des Nations team which will compete in Ibizia.
The awards will be held on Thursday 14th March 2019. Finalists will be presented and winners announced at an Awards Gala presentation Dinner on Friday 17th May 2019.
