A 27-year-old man was arrested by Kadina police on Monday following an alleged assault in the township.
At about 1pm, patrols were called to Port Road after reports a woman was being assaulted by a man known to her.
Witnesses came to the aid of the victim who was not physically injured. Police then located the suspect nearby and arrested him.
The man of no fixed address was also wanted in connection with another alleged assault perpetrated on the same victim last year.
He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and was refused bail.
The man was also issued with a police interim intervention order and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Tuesday January 8 via video link from the Port Pirie Magistrates court.
Police interim intervention orders can be issued to provide immediate protection and safety for victims. Whether it is physical, sexual, emotional, psychological or economic abuse; domestic violence is a deliberate act and is rarely an isolated event.
Over time the violence tends to increase in frequency and severity, it is a crime and will not be tolerated by police.
