Stubble fire burns over 100 hectares

Country Fire Service are urging residents to take action now for a bushfire burning north of Bute on the Yorke Peninsula. 

The fire is currently burning uncontrolled in a north to north easerly direction towards Read Road, Tower View Road, Youngs Road, Wokurna Road, Aeroplane Road.

If you are not prepared, leave now and if the path is clear, go to a safer place. Do not enter this area as conditions are dangerous.

Crews were initially called to the scene at 3.31pm with eight trucks and 40 personnel currently responding to the blaze. 

The fire has burnt more than 100 hectares and is burning well and with flame heights of up 2-3 metres, the cause is currently unknown. . 

A wind change is moving through the area and this has the ability to change the direction of the fire. ​

A strike team from Port Wakefield has been called in, which will provide additional capabilities on site. 

There is current a Watch and Act Message issued for this fire and the CFS encourage those in the area to check their bush fire plans.
