The Crystal Brook Football Club’s women’s football competition, the Mid North Women’s Football League, starts this Friday night, February 22. Matches start at 6pm with the Under 16 teams kicking off.
Then at 7pm the eight Senior Women’s teams start followed by a second round of Senior Women’s matches at 8.15pm.
Teams will battle it out for the 2019 grand prize of the premiership shield at the end of the now extended six-week season on Friday, March 29. There are eight senior teams in the competition: Roosters, Brookies, Mid North Rockets, Orroroo Joey’s, Southern Flinders Tigers, and from Port Pirie there is Lions, Sollies and Port.
A spokesperson for Crystal Brook Football Club said the competition enabled players to make pathways into the SANFL Women’s Football Competition, and possibly the AWFL. The club thanked the SANFL for its continued support.
“We greatly appreciate all the volunteers who enable this new competition to thrive in our community, including our coaches, trainers, umpires and helpers on the ground,” a spokesperson said. “We encourage everyone to come along to the matches and support the female footballers in our region. Bring the whole family for a great night’s entertainment and support our local girls.”
There is free entry, the barbecue shack will be open and full bar facilities are available.
