Motorcyclists from across the Yorke and Mid North turned out in their hundreds as they took to the highways on Sunday for the Black Dog ride.

The ride started in Jamestown before heading to Moonta and through to Clare for the finale. The motorcyclists rode in solidarity for those who are shadowed by the black dog of depression.

The Black Dog riders promote the belief that fostering awareness of depression in communities is the best catalyst for preventing the tragedy of suicide and they hope to unite people under one banner.

Nick Fetherstonhaugh, the Jamestown coordinator said he and many volunteers have been affected by depression and suicide. "The suicide prevention project will kick start conversations around a tough topic and provides hope to communities."
