Elders SA Stud Merino Expo 2019 attracts big crowd at Burra |PHOTOS

A large interstate contingent converged on the Burra Oval for the Elders SA Stud Merino Expo, ensuring it was one of the largest crowds seen at the event in many years.

The enthusiasm among the visitors was evident with sensational wool and meat prices but they all hoping for an early break to the season.

North Ashrose stud, Gulnare, came up trumps for the Elders Field Day Ram of the Year.

First-time Burra entrants the Graetz family, Ashrose stud,Mundulla, came away with the win in the All Purpose Pen of Two Ram Lambs.

WA breeders were out in force buying the two highest price rams sold in helmsman sales conducted by Elders.

Collinsville stud,Mount Bryan, received $9500 for a ram bought by Greg Carmody, Mittakeri stud, Kulin, while Ockley Park stud, Narrogin, bid to $9000 for a Greenfields ram.

The Greenfields ram was also in the Sullivan families' winning Merino championship pair.
