The Booleroo and Districts Lions Club has been kept very busy during the last month.
Firstly with a combined meeting of local district clubs at the Wirrabara Hotel where Megan McLoughlin from the Herd of Hope was the guest speaker outlining her life and the work that the Herd of Hope does to support donors and recipients of donor organs.
She stressed there is no age limit on donations and the importance of discussing your wishes as a donor with your family.
Her website is an excellent source of information and procedures that should be followed to assist with organ donation, as well as information for donors and what support is available for recipients.
Two new members in Marty and Sue Keller were inducted into the club and members said goodbye to valued member Father Ben who is returning to Pt Lincoln.
The club is very happy to receive notice of the approval of a $10,000.00 grant from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) Tackling Tough Times Together program.
The funding will enable the club to proceed with the purchase on a new "donut" catering van.
Equipment in the new van will enable catering for meals at local fundraising events and for meals at such emergencies as fires or natural disasters - a real asset for the community.
The club has also donated $100 to each of the Lions Prostate Fund and the Lions Cord Blood Foundation.
