A 70-year-old man from Kadina has died in a single car accident at Alford on the Yorke Peninsula.
Emergency services responded to the crash at about 1.15pm on Monday, June 17 where they found a car that had left the road and crashed into a tree on the Spencer Highway near the intersection of Point Riley Road.
The man was the sole occupant of the car and was taken to the local hospital but sadly died a short time later.
Major Crash investigators are examining the circumstances of the crash.
The Spencer Highway is currently closed to all traffic while police investigate the crash.
Diversions are in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
The road toll is now to 56 compared to 35 at the same time last year.
