It's that time of year when Pacific Hydro launches its annual Clements Gap Sustainable Communities Fund.
From July 1 to 31, 2019, eligible community groups and not-for-profit organisations are encouraged to apply for project funding up to $10,000 from a pool of $55,000.
Over the last 14 years, Pacific Hydro has pumped more than $440,000 into over 126 projects in Clements Gap, Crystal Brook, Redhilll, Port Broughton, Mundoora and Wandearah.
Krista Kim, engagement and external affairs manager at Pacific Hydro, said that the company has a long and well-documented history of community investment and that she is looking forward to seeing what innovative projects the local community groups come up with this year.
"Last year, successful applicants included: Mundoora Community Sports Club, who sought funding to upgrade their kitchen, The Willochra Home, to build a café and outdoor area for residents and Crystal Brook Junior Basketball club, who received funding for new basketball towers and hoops - our donation was also matched by a federal grant to complete two more courts so we are looking forward to continuing to support more initiatives this year," she said.
"We would also like to see new members of the community assist with the selection of 2019 of projects by being part of the Fund Allocation Panel", she added.
Applications will again be accepted across five funding areas - education and training, health and welfare, sport and recreation, the arts and culture, and the environment.
Community groups with proposed projects that meet the eligibility and selection criteria and benefit Clements Gap, Crystal Brook, Redhilll, Port Broughton, Mundoora and Wandearah are encouraged to apply.
All eligible applications are reviewed by a fair and transparent panel process, which ensures community involvement in how funds are allocated. Members of the local community are invited to be a part of the Clements Gap Sustainable Communities Fund Allocation Panel for 2019. Participation provides valuable insight into the application process, and more information about activities in the local community. Expressions of Interest for the Panel will be open throughout July.
