Redhill Oval has benefitted from $25,000 in funding from the state government's Active Club Program.

The money was used to install solar power at the facility as well as upgrade lighting.

The works mark an exciting period of renewal at the town's sporting facility over about five years, with the community working hard to upgrade the grounds and clubrooms.

Member for Frome Geoff Brock said the Active Club Program was fantastic and praised the Gulnare-Redhill Football and Netball Club for their efforts at the facility.

"What they're doing here and what they have done in the last few years is outstanding," he said.

The addition of solar power also means a saving in energy costs for the group.

Greg Hayes, who accepted the certificate of funding from Mr Brock on behalf of the club on Thursday, spoke positively about their achievements.

"From what we had five years ago to what we have now, it's fantastic," he said.

The Active Club Program has two funding rounds per year.
