Bowling season kicks off

Last season's Division 1 premiers, Laura, got off to a strong start as the North Western Bowling Association's Saturday competition kicked off at the weekend.

Laura defeated Port Pirie, 112 shots to 82 shots.

Jake Prior's rink was in top form on the day with 34 shots to Port Pirie's Stephen Lynch's 20.

Crystal Brook proved too strong for Jamestown,122 shots to 75.

In a nail-biting clash, Booleroo Centre held on to defeat BHAS, 89 shots to 88.

Melrose and Port Germein also started the season off with wins in the top division.

In Division 2, Port Pirie, Wirrabara, BHAS Blue, Georgetown and Peterborough enjoyed strong wins.

Division 3 saw closer games played out with Gulnare, Crystal Brook White, Port Germein and Booleroo Centre victorious.

Port Pirie Blue was in brilliant form against Caltowie, 104 shots to 47.

The three games in Division 4 were forfeited.
