The Kimba Area School has taken this one step further by asking locals to volunteer for a community mentoring program involving children from across the district - and they are achieving some great results.

After three years of controversial consultation, protests and ballots, two outback communities will soon learn the fate of a Federal Government nuclear waste management facility touted for a site near Kimba. Taskforce chair Sam Chard says all interested parties were included in the consultation and ballot process, a statement strongly refuted by Adnyamathanha Elder Enice Marsh.

Tourism dollars in Kaniva are coming off the sheep's back, but not in the way most people would think. A few years ago a sheep art trail was devised by the district's progress association and each year it's following has grown, bringing the town to life.

To champion the cause of eradicating domestic violence, Shawn Hicks has devised a number of ways to highlight the problem and bring it to the forefront. From beanies to footys, ribbons to netballs, his hard work has resulted in being bestowed the honour of being named the SA Police Citizen of the Year. Read about his story here.
