A new university campus serving the Mid North is responding to a demand for qualified workers.
Two degrees have been launched at UniHub Spencer Gulf to create more professionals with business-related qualifications.
The campus's partner, Flinders University, will offer a Bachelor of Business and Master of Business Administration through the Port Pirie and Port Augusta sites this year.
The Port Augusta campus's student engagement officer, Lexie Morris, said the move had come after industry surveys.
She said employers had called for more professionals with business-related qualifications.
"The survey showed a shortage of workers with business-related qualifications in the Port Pirie and Port Augusta areas," Ms Morris said.
"The degree and MBA were chosen by our industry panel as the university-level qualifications that best provide students with the broad knowledge and competencies to enhance a career in business-related fields.
"By offering these courses we can continue to grow a pool of professionals from within the region to ensure we are building a competitive and self-reliant economy and community."
Spokeswoman for Flinders University Professor Clare Pollock, who is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students), said topics varied in the Business Degree. She said they included economics, law and accounting, management, marketing, innovation and entrepreneurship, human resource management and options around small business and international business.
"Students will also have a strong focus on industry engagement including enterprise-based projects and business mentors," Professor Pollock said.
"This is an area where our partnership with UniHub will give students an advantage as there are strong local connections to a wide range of industry partners across the Upper Spencer Gulf and surrounding areas."
In addition, to the Business Degree, the campus joined Flinders to offer the Master of Business Administration (MBA).
The course represents the "gold standard in global recognition of MBAs", according to Flinders.
