Independent Frome MP Geoff Brock handed out grants worth almost $15,000 on behalf of the state government.

He gave the sum of $5000 to the Port Pirie Basketball Association under the Active Club Program.

It will be used to help with programs and equipment. At the Memorial Oval sport precinct, he presented $4400 under the same scheme to Tigers Baseball Club for programs and equipment.

Mr Brock visited the Port Pirie Rifle Club, off Port Germein Road, to allocate $5000 for programs and equipment under the scheme. He presented certificates of funding to each group.

Meanwhile, Mr Brock told of a $2 million investment by the government in Port Pirie hospital. Upgrades will include a new cool room, better electrical system and new back-up power generator.
