Two men have been arrested in Port Pirie on Saturday night after a dangerous assault near the Portside Tavern.

Just before 11.30pm, patrols were checking on the hotel when they saw a fight taking place outside the premises.

Police said the victim was punched several times before being left unconscious as two suspects fled.

Officers found the suspects at Pirie West.

A 19-year-old from Port Pirie was charged with fighting in a public place and a 20-year-old was charged with assault causing harm.

Both men have been bailed to appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on July 19.

The pair were also issued with three month barring orders.
