A private school teacher from the Sunshine Coast has been charged with possessing and sharing child exploitation material.

"At this time there is no evidence that the man has offended against any students, but investigations remain ongoing," Queensland Police Service said on Friday.

The 41-year-old was charged after police seized devices from his Glenview home in January this year.

A detailed forensic examination of those devices uncovered evidence police will use to allege he possessed child abuse material, and made it available to others.

The man has been released on strict bail conditions and is due to face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on October 14.

"This is not a victimless crime," Detective Inspector Donaldson said on Friday.

"These images have been created through the abuse of real children and anyone involved in possessing or distributing these images continues this cycle of victimisation.

"To those that seek to engage in this predatory behaviour, remember that everything you do online leaves a trace and the QPS are relentless in targeting anyone involved in this crime."
